"Complex and layered; sweet and savoury all at once. The fragrance is a melting pot of violets, cranberry, plums, a whisker of bramble and fragrant five spice. Moderate in weight; the summer pudding fruits come in all colours, dialling up the flavour. There is cigar box and cardamom spice lending intrigue and a dry spice finish coupled by firm yet fine tannins that ably support the fruit." - Yarra Yering, Winemaker
"Dense ruby with rich purple tones at the rim. Blueberry, ground cumin and fennel with a touch of reductive lift on the nose. Loaded with blue fruits at the core, intense yet not overbearing. There’s layers of cured meats, subtle Sichuan pepper spice and floral lifts along the line with deeper wakame and iodine tones underneath. It’s all bound by a supple acidity and finely wrought tannins, gentle in their guidance but resolute in their persistence, carrying it for an age to an eventual bright and fresh finish." - 98 Points, Stuart Knox, The Real Review
"Fermented with whole berries and matured in barriques (30% new). The cool vintage shows through in what's a lovely and elegant rendition of this Yarra Valley classic. Aromas of red and black fruits, spices and ironstone together with a gentle meatiness. Medium bodied and supple. An approachable and quite delicious Dry Red No. 2 that will provide copious amounts of enjoyment now and over the next 10–15 years." - 97 Points, Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
