Description
"A classic expression of high-altitude Dolcetto from the San Luigi cru, the 2022 Briccolero opens with deep aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry, and violet, underpinned by subtle balsamic and earthy tones. The palate is focused and firmly structured, offering dark berry fruit wrapped in chalky tannins and lifted by vibrant acidity. Aged in a mix of cement and large oak, and bottled unfiltered, this is a wine of clarity and intent; both accessible in youth and capable of graceful development over the next 5–7 years." - Importer's Notes
"Bright cherry red with purple hues. A profuse and lifted bouquet offers black cherry and currants with a swirl of violet perfume. There's some discreet wood spice as well and a hint of fragrant herb. Very appealing. It is medium-bodied but quite expansive in the mouth, dark fruits accompanied by fresh acidity with a sheath of firm tannins, sometimes obtrusive in dolcetto, well integrated here. A hint of clove and liquorice add complexity and depth to the lengthy finish. This is an excellent rendition of dolcetto from Dogliani" - 93 points, Stephen Blandford
