// A blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, made in 100% appassimento style.
"Marion doesn’t sit inside the Classico zone and is very lucky to be sat right on top of some wonderful calcareous soils. Elegance, not something that is often associated with red wines from this style and region is a common word used by many critics and trade professionals over the years, all in context of course considering the winemaking process of these wines.
The grapes for Amarone are always the first to be harvested, to retain natural acidity and avoid possible rot further in the growing season. The bunches are stored in plastic trays in the family’s fruttaio, a facility purposedly built to air dry the grapes (using natural currents and sometimes fans) for 8 to 10 weeks.
The Amarone elevage lasts 36 months in 30 hectolitres Slavonian neutral Garbellotto botti. A small part of the wine is kept at rest in smaller 550 litres tonneaux." - Franc About Wine, Importer
"The 2020 Amarone della Valpolicella seduces from the glass as notes of orange-infused dark chocolate combine with sweet sage and dried black cherries. It's velvety in feel with tantalizing acidity to balance and polished wildberry fruits elevated by a subtle citrus twang. Gently tannic and long, the 2020 finishes savory with autumnal spice and a cocoa resonance." - 95 points, Eric Guido for Vinous
