Chateau de Meursault - Burgundy Trio on Offer!

---

The old, historic Chateau de Meursault has seen a dramatic makeover in recent years. With quality now at an all-time high the wine world - both journalists and enthusiasts - are taking note. Some brilliant press as below is seeing demand is soar!

Stylistically, these wines possess everything we love about white Burgundy - texture, power, purity and mineralité. Putting all that together, the resulting wines are impeccibly balanced with an almost tender, succulent texture (and if that sounds appealing, it is, and believe us, we're not even doing them justice!). Sealed under DIAM cork, these wines will age nicely, but we find they offer compelling drinking even at this early stage.

Quantities are quite low, particularly on the 1er Cru, so get in quick!

2020 Chateau de Meursault Bourgogne Blanc 'Clos du Chateau' - $95 on special this week ; $109 RRP

100% Chardonnay - sourced from a single vineyard in front of the Chateau, approximately 1/3rd of this land lies within the bounds of the village-classified Sous la Velle. A beautiful wine of volume and texture that may be approached now.

"A smoky blend of citrus and white orchard fruit aromas complements the racy and nicely voluminous flavors that possess a suave mid-palate that contrasts somewhat with the clean and appealingly dry finale. This is better than average for its level and worth a look." - Allen Meadows, Burghound (in-bottle review) "Mid yellow, not much to the nose with a very pleasing well filled mid palate, crisp & fresh & long. An exemplary white burgundy, refreshing too." – Jasper Morris MW (in-barrel review)

2020 Chateau de Meursault - Meursault Perrieres 1er Cru - $279 on special this week ; $320 RRP

100% Chardonnay - Meursault Perrieres is prized for its latent power, elegance, mineralité and age-worthiness. This is a little tighter than the Charmes (below) today, but its class is immediately obvious.

"A broad-ranging and elegant nose combines notes of mineral reduction, acacia blossom, anise, jasmine tea and a hint of tangerine peel. The gorgeously textured and impressively intense middle weight flavors possess excellent delineation on the chiseled, stony and impressively persistent finish that is presently quite tightly wound. A wine of class and grace that should repay extended cellaring." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

"Fine pale primrose. A powerful concentration of fruit on the nose, plus a little gunflint. This is a different level of volume here compared to the Meursault Charmes, some ripe plums, stopping short of peaches, excellent mineral grip behind and pleasingly long ." – Jasper Morris MW

2020 Chateau de Meursault - Meursault Charmes-Dessus 1er Cru - $279 on special this week ; $320 RRP

100% Chardonnay - As the name indicates, fruit from this wine comes from the upper (Dessus) part of the vineyard, where the quality is perceived to be slightly higher than the lower (Dessous) portion. It's a special wine from Chateau de Meursault.

"This is also aromatically exceptionally pretty with its even more floral array of white orchard fruit, including a whiff of passion fruit, just sliced fennel and an interesting hint of crushed mint leaf. The dense, delicious and caressing medium-bodied flavors also possess a gorgeous texture, all wrapped in a bone-dry, tightly wound and striking long finale. This excellent and well-balanced effort is also very much built for extended keeping. Recommended." - Allen Meadows, Burghound

"Pure fine lemon colour. A noble terroir here, with a wonderful depth to the bouquet, very classy, too well balanced to be described as heady, exceptional but balanced power in the mouth with its classical chiselled finish, and superb length. This regular winner is once again an absolute stand out in 2020 ." – Jasper Morris (in-barrel review)
