"Nebbiolo from the Malakoff Vineyard in the Pyrenees, 320m above sea level. The 2024 growing season was the first warm and more classic growing season after a trio of cooler La Niña seasons in the years that preceded; fruit was harvested in late March. 100% destemmed and handled gently, only pump-overs, using old world practices to produce a Nebbiolo that prizes freshness and aromatic purity, as well as the layered accumulation of fine, ripe tannins. On skins for 22 days before pressing and racking to old, large format puncheons where it rested on fine lees for 11 months before blending and bottling." - Winemaker Notes
"An opportunity to hear Matt Large wax lyrical about nebbiolo, region and clone, is a masterpiece in and of itself. '24 saw a return to warmer growing conditions, resulting in a classic and pure expression of nebbiolo. Rose petal, orange rind, red cherry and raspberry with earthy savoury notes, leather, terracotta and bay. The tannins are spectacular, chewy and long, providing a nice framework in conjunction with bright acidity and fruit. It's a beauty. Drink by 2038." - 94 Points, Katrina Butler, Halliday Wine Companion
"Excellent fruit, excellent structure, beautiful wine to drink. Flavours of sweet cherries and pomegranate, twiggy herbs, strawberries, orange peel and assorted spices. Ultra fine-grained tannin. Fresh-feeling. Both mouth-watering and finessed through the finish. Feels crafted in the best of ways." - 93 Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
