Description
"Third generation vigneron, Vincent Géantet heads this Gevrey-Chambertin based domaine farming 12 hectares of vines up to 65 years of age, in the North of the Côte de Nuits covering the appellations of Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Marsannay." - Importer Note
"From 100+ year old vines
This is presently sufficiently reduced to mask the underlying fruit. Otherwise there is excellent density and an overt muscularity to the more mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess even more dry extract that imparts a sappy mouthfeel before terminating in a robust, youthfully austere and very serious finale. This is a particularly good Gevrey villages though one that will need extended cellaring." - 90 points Allen Meadows burghound.com Jan 10, 2019
"The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin En Champs has a tightly wound bouquet of black cherries, iodine and a scent that reminds me of Ribena fruit drink. The palate is well balanced with sappy red fruit and a fine bead of acidity. Quite lithe in the mouth, leading to a juicy, easygoing finish." - Neal Martin, vinous.com
