// 39% Chardonnay, 37% Pinot Noir and 24% Meunier

"At Maison Krug, every Krug Vintage celebrates the distinct character of a particular year – a blend of its most expressive wines, enhanced by a stay of over ten years in the cellars. Each Krug Vintage is different: it tells the story of the unique circumstances of the year, of what surprised, enchanted or moved our Tasting Committee in the tasting room.

Highly expressive, bright, undeniably elegant and discreet, Krug 2004 combines citrus notes of all kinds, evoking the sensation of early summer mornings in Champagne. A vintage graced by nature’s elation, it is the vibrant song of a year so fresh, the Tasting Committee decided to nickname this champagne Luminous Freshness." - Krug, Winemaker

"The 2004 Vintage is a gorgeous Champagne that is just beginning to enter its first plateau of maturity. Dried flowers, brioche, mint, marzipan, tangerine peel and spice lend notable nuance throughout. A hint of reduction adds intrigue. As always, the 2004 is a linear, focused Champagne endowed with terrific energy. It is impeccably done. There's a bit more Chardonnay and Meunier than usual in this vintage, and that very much comes through in the wine's personality and overall feel. The blend is 37% Pinot Noir, 39% Chardonnay and 24% Meunier as opposed to the more classic 50%/35%/15% blend. Disgorged: Summer 2018. Krug ID: 318031. (Drink between 2024-2044)" - 98 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"A rich nose of baked cheesecake and Madeira cake, this 2004 is bold and expressive, exploding in the mouth with citrus intensity and creamy luxury. Layering Custard Cream biscuits over sweet candied lemon rind, marzipan sweetness and creamy oats, the finish remains hyper fresh with a mineral underlay. Textured like fine silk, this is expressive and approachable now, playing the richness of butterscotch against white florals and candied peach, all underpinned by long, flowing acidity. Following the widespread heatwave of 2003, the 2004 growing season started fairly cool, yet final yields were generous. (Drink between 2024-2045)" - 97 Points, Natalia Earl, Decanter

"This is Krug’s top vintage release of recent times. This is a more developed, outgoing bottle than was tasted earlier in 2024, a little more showy in its immediately gratifying roasted lemon, walnut and coffee tones with a broad, enveloping palate of dried spices and red apple. There’s a beautiful follow through and clear-eyed focus in this vintage next to its neighbours at Krug, perhaps helped along by an extra dash of Chardonnay. There’s more to gain, too, from further cellaring here. (Drink between 2024-2030)" - 95 Points, Tom Hewson, Decanter
